![]() Decide where the apples are going to be placed, and extend branches to them. Start by sketching a branch, being mindful of how you want the finished composition to look. On an empty layer below the texture group, choose a pencil brush to begin sketching. This will give an all-over texture to the page. Set this blend mode to Linear Burn, and reduce the opacity to around 20%. On the topmost layer, choose a midtone grey, and then choose a regular paper texture brush - in the example, I’m using the Watercolor Paper Rough Brush - and again, use a single stroke to paint the entire layer with texture. ![]() ![]() On the next layer up, use an Overlay brush - with the primary color on black and the secondary color on white - to paint the entire layer in a single stroke filling with texture. Then set the layer blend mode to Color Burn. On the bottom of the three layers, import this photo. To create this unique texture, here’s how we’ll set up the layers. Then add around 7 layers, and select the top three of them and group them together. The beauty of working with paper texture brushes is that you can create a canvas of any size and still have the texture in the canvas. Start by creating a 3000 by 3000 pixel canvas set to 300 DPI.
